Composition 1

What is it that makes this image so delightful? First of all, it’s the image’s simple presentation with just a young girl at the edge of the pond and a couple of model sailing boats in the background. But one wants to smile because her attire is just so Parisian and one would surely know where she lived without having to say so. Secondly, she is placed on the right side of the image looking into the images left beyond the boats. It would not work if she were in the middle or on the left side because there would be blank spaces on the right that would detract from the narrative. One needs that space to frame the story.  She is obviously concentrating and as mentioned, looking past the sailing boats and it makes you wonder what it is that has captured her attention. Because I slightly used a dark vignetting and because of the color of her attire, one’s eye is immediately drawn to her: her cute hair style, the striped skirt, even her white, slightly discolored sandals - probably from walking on the dirt paths of the garden. All of these elements make her so appealing and alive. It was a warm day but a little cloudy in the early fall. 

One takes pictures to tell stores, to capture a moment, but with thought…..
