Shawn Tempesta
Shawn Tempesta is a self-taught artist who has painted with oils since her teens and created jewelry for the past 30 years. She moved to Bandon in 2008 with her husband after retiring as an RN. They were drawn to the Southern Coast of Oregon because of the dramatic shoreline and incredible wildlife
After living half her adult life on sailboats in California and the other half in Hawaii, she loves the ocean and is inspired to capture its beauty and energy in her paintings. Bandon offers the perfect atmosphere to feed her excitement for exploring new mediums, especially at Art by the Sea Gallery & Studio, where she is a member. In addition to displaying her art and jewelry there, and teaching classes, she is thrilled to be learning new techniques from the other artists’ classes.
Tempesta is an award winning silversmith in California and now enjoys reconstructing and upcycling innovative pieces. Currently, Steampunk is one of her favorite themes for creating both art and jewelry as it evokes nostalgic memories of times past...with a science fiction twist. She loves to hunt for vintage jewelry, brass gears and rings, original game pieces, and anything that is broken and beautiful to remake into unique pieces of art.
Tempesta has exhibited at the Coos Bay Museum, Whistling Gallery, the Bandon Library, Expressions, and the Southern Coos Hospital. She has also sold and currently accepts commissions.
