Edwardo Falcon
Eduardo was born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay. His beginning in art started at the young age of 8 years old; when he began taking private lessons in artistic drawing. In his mid-thirties, he combined his skills to create this age-old concept, mixed with these innovative techniques to create a new style of gourd art.
He hand picks each gourd from Wuertz Gourd Farm in southern Arizona; choosing only the sturdiest and best-formed gourds. Working in his studio which was in Casa Grande, Arizona, but is now in Myrtle Point, Oregon. Using wood burning tools he then outlines the intricate patterns into the gourd surface. The Kokopelli flute dance, high plains buffalo, Indian Zuni bear, lizard, rabbit, and the kachina figure is represented on some of his pieces. His work is represented in galleries in Idaho, Utah, Arizona, as well as owned by many private collectors throughout the world.
In recent years, Eduardo received many different accolades, including the People’s Choice Award. In 2017 he was distinguished as a Master Carver. Recently, he began to create new concepts in the form of gourd-based lamps and lampshades. This new revolutionary idea has resulted in unique pieces of gourd art, each is one of a kind.
